Cliche? Yes. True? Absolutely.
Along with our Catcher Dioner Navarro and our Ace Scott Kazmir, our Rookie 3rd Baseman Evan Longoria (above) was named to the 2008 All-Star team earlier this week. But in between the All-Star roster announcement and the actual game, the 1st place Rays went on a 7 game losing streak. The boys went to New York, all came up big in the game and came back to Tampa ready and rarin' to go against the Toronto Blue Jays on Friday night. We won that game 2-1, and last night Evan Almighty recorded his first career Grand Slam to put us up 5-0 (we won the game 6-4). He was also named the A.L.'s Rookie of the Month for June and will no doubt be a candidate for Rookie of the Year. Be proud Tampa Bay! This is an amazing and historical year for the Rays! Go to the Trop to see history in the making! You want to be able to tell your kids and your grandkids that you took advantage of seeing history in the making and you got to watch Evan Longoria in his Rookie Year!
